Donald Trump has lost a trustee in his House Speaker Paul Ryan. Ryan has finally come from the shadows of Trump’s administration to use his voice. And Trump probably won’t be too happy with what he had to say.
According to a report by The Hill, Ryan came to the defense of journalists, who Trump usually likes to belittle if they aren’t reporting in his favor.
“Leaks are concerning because leaks can often compromise national security, but that’s the problem of the leaker, not the journalist.”
This comes just hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions said that he will be cracking down on ‘leakers’ and the media because they are a threat to national security. Saying,
We respect the important role that the press plays and will give them respect, but it is not unlimited. They cannot place lives at risk with impunity. We must balance their role with protecting our national security and the lives of those who serve in our intelligence community, the armed forces and all law abiding Americans.”
Ryan was not having it. Like most of Trump’s Republican clan, he is sick and tired of sticking by the side of a man who spews nonsense out his mouth. Especially when it comes to HATE for the media. Media has nothing to do with leaks. Just as Ryan said, it is the LEAKER that is the issue. It’s about time he spoke up. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a little more resistance from him.
